The Gender Wonder.

Gender is the wide set of characteristics that are seen to distinguish between female and male members of a species, in most animals including humans as well as many plants. It can extend from biological sex to, in humans and some other animals, a social role or gender identity

This is interesting.

Read it again.

Gender- A wide set of characteristics- [is phenotypic or morphological (simply external biology), anatomical (internal biology) and Genetic- inherited through generations] seen to distinguish between female and male members of a species (a group of similar organisms).

This definition indicates that there are a well defined characteristic features (falling to the above sets) that distinguish between male and female individuals.

Ok. This is cool.

Take the species Homo sapiens (human beings) as an example and enumerate some of the distinguishable biological features.

Female
The most distinguishable characters of a human female are;
• Presence of secondary sexual characteristics (body features like vagina-external genitalia, ovaries, uterus, breast, specially organized and shaped bones etc,)which gives, curves and other features, lack of body hair, special orientation of fat etc. (The characteristic orientation of the leg and hip bones play behind the particular stance and gait of a women.)

• High pitched voice- because of the specially designed larynx (voice box-yea -Adams apple)

How ?

• There is a genetic imprint in a woman chromosome. In the 23rd pair. ie, X and X.
This feature makes the woman phenotype so.

• A cascade of hormonal events starting from a small portion of brain to the female hormones like estrogen, progesterone, luteinizing hormone , follicle stimulation hormone etc…will gradually turn a girl child to develop secondary sexual characteristics (fem features) to reach the gorgeous women features.
• These are hormonal events that take place gradually during puberty, ie, shedding of the first matured ovum from ovary. The uterus receives the ovum immediately. Another cascade of hormonal events which results in attaining of a perfect women body shape, enlargement of breast, accumulation of fat in buttocks, thighs etc and enhancement of facial features.
Why ?
This is a tricky question. But a sensible one.
• Biologically all these events make a girl suitable for conception/pregnancy and giving birth to a child. (Yea. reproduction for the existence of man kind)
• This process essentially needs a male gamete from a male partner. ( no one will donate a gamete for no reason. right?) So the feminine feature will serve for attracting him to her.

This is the fact.
Male

The reverse is happening with male also, with an array of male hormones like androgens playing behind. And that is ruled by the XY chromosomes of the 23rd pair.

Which result in the maturation of male genitalia, highly muscular body, low pitched voice (with a prominent larynx or sound box) presence of pubic, facial and body hair, characteristic gate etc.

In a glance we could say that a girl child is not different from a boy child fundamentally in morphology, except the presence of vagina or penis and testicles. Right?

But there is a striking difference in genetic and anatomy.

Yea.the genetic dissimilarity is in the 23rd pair of sex chromosomes. XX –signature in female and XY signature in male.

The anatomical (internal) dissimilarity is the presence of gonads (internal sex organs).The Ovaries in females and Testicles in males)

(These two organs are formed and developed from primordial germ cells, in accordance with the genetic signature available in them.)

Ok.

Now we have a female individual with her own genetic morphological and anatomical, sexual/gender features, and a male individual with his own specific, defined genetic morphological and anatomical sexual/gender features.

All these contrasting features distinguish a human male from a female. All these features make a man thing as a man longing for a women and a women thing as a women longing for a man. The brain of each individual strive in all possible ways to make the other individual belonging to other gender attracted towards him/her.

This is why the girls are trying all the way from child hood to enhance and highlight their charm, beauty and features so that it should catch attention of the other sex.

o Flattering.
o Being naughty
o Catwalk…………..

o ……….

and

all the boys make them more macho by enhancing there features. (by growing mustache, beard, six pack muscles

o Road rash (with bike and cars)
o Smoking/drinking
o A little goonda raj
o Playing leader among some
o Hardy sports and games
o ………….
o ……………..

Well.

Things are going smooth up to this level.

Now.

Why some of us have some problem, physically (morphological and behavioral), mentally (Gender Identity Disorder) or anatomically.
